Son by Lois Lowry
I am finally getting around to Son by Lois Lowry. Son is the conclusion of The Giver series, one I would highly recommend. It has taken me a while to want to conclude the series, as I have enjoyed it so much, but it is time!

we were liars - book recommendation
I have abandoned Mrs. Cavendish's Home.. and started We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. The basic premise is about a well to do family who seems to be covering up a large secret. The secret has to do with the protagonist, Cady, and an accident which happened on the family's private island.
It's a young adult novel. It's intriguing. I really want to know what happened to Cady, and why they call themselves the liars. I have some clues, but I'm not entirely sure how it's going to turn out. I'll definitely finish it.
I would recommend this book if you enjoy John Green books, or are looking for a Penderwicks type of book with an edge to it. I'd recommend it to people who want an exciting read with a bit of romance, and a lot of mystery.
6/25 - Finished We were Liars today. I had to fight to not peek at the ending. Good suspense, and a good look at what money can do to a family if it is used with power.

General Recommendations
Here are some general recommendations of books I have read over the years....
A Mango Shaped Space... by Wendy Mass
Realistic fiction - excellent book about a girl with a different way of seeing the world.
The Fault in Our Stars... by John Green
The Giver.... Lois Lowry (we'll read this in class)
The Book Thief....Markus Zusak
Written about the holocaust...excellent, challenging
Harris and Me by Gary Paulsen
Hilarious, somewhat crude depiction of a friendship between 2 boys on a farm
The Ranger's Apprentice
Good training / fighting / in the woods in the Middle Ages type of book series
The Graveyard Book..... by Neil Gaiman (this takes a particular taste in books however...)
Divergent.... by Veronica Roth (distopian)
The Hunger Games....by Suzanne Collins (distopian)
The Harry Potter series.... by JK Rowling (you know about this, I'm sure)

For the past couple of weeks I have been reading The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls. I like the general theme - how if things are perfect, really they're not so perfect, and should be closely examined. I also like the main character, Victoria. The plot seems stretched out a bit, but still I am enjoying it, and am wondering what is going to happen with the strange insects that keep showing up everywhere.
